Sumitani Incense Holder - Monkey

Incense holder made of tin, in the shape of of a monkey. The character comes from the Chōjū-jinbutsu-giga, or Scroll of Frolicking Animals, a Japanese 12th century work of art credited to be the first manga.

Sumitani Saburo Shoten is a Japanese family-run foundry, established in 1939 in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture. The company’s products draw on traditional metal-working techniques to create exquisite everyday objects.
